As the Library Candle is one of our most popular scents, I often get asked where I drew inspiration.
Perfumes can evoke powerful images of past memories by associating a particular smell with experiences, in this case times spent in places like the V&A reading rooms researching whilst at university. Older libraries conjure up the experience of hushed voices, scribbling pencils and leather bound volumes, an experience that is becoming difficult to find in the modern world. The Library candle creates the atmosphere of this contemplative world.
To create the candle, I firstly describe the feel and mood of the scent using photos and images on a mood board. This is the easiest way for me to translate my ideas into smell. When these are finalised, I then work closely with a perfumer to create the fragrance and this is when the magic happens! Once the perfect scent is created it is then developed into a candle. We use a 100% GM free natural wax with a natural fibre wick.
Library is one of my personal favourites and I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
