Autumn fireside image

With autumn now in full swing, our thoughts turn to warmer things. To the warm hues of the turning leaves; the reds, the ochras, umbers and burnt siennas. To the warmth that comes from an open fire. There are few people who don't, at least sometimes, stand transfixed and watch the flames leap in a garden bonfire.

Moving inside, not everyone has a open fire and can be hypnotised by the warmth, the crackles and the reds, yellows and oranges in the flames. If you don't, you might like to consider our Fireside Candle.

The smoky top notes and warm, woody base of cedar, musk and moss take us to that place where we're lost in thought and sitting just a little too close to the fire.

Just to get you even more into that autumnal mood, we thought we'd share some of Robert Louis Stevenson's magical prose...

In the other gardens

  And all up the vale,
From the autumn bonfires
  See the smoke trail!

Pleasant summer over
  And all the summer flowers,
The red fire blazes,
  The gray smoke towers.

Sing a song of seasons!
  Something bright in all!
Flowers in the summer,
  Fires in the fall!

Robert Louis Stevenson (from A Child’s Garden of Verses, 1885)
